Christina Hall Reveals Kids Asked Her to Leave Josh Hall After ‘Blow Up’: ‘Feel Like I’m in a Tornado’
Christina Hall shared a heartbreaking detail about her split from estranged husband Josh Hall. The HGTV star revealed that her older kids, Taylor and Brayden, felt the tension between her and Josh and actually urged her to leave.
“The kids literally asked me to leave,” Christina, 41, told her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa in a clip of their new series The Flip Off shared by People on Thursday, December 12. “They told me he’s not nice to me. Why would I stick around?”
Tarek, 43, had stopped by Christina’s house in Newport Beach, California, when he noticed that she seemed upset.
When Tarek asked if the Christina on the Coast star was OK, she replied, “No… Josh and I officially split up.”
Christina continued, “We had a blow up… middle fingers in my face. Things with Josh have been bad for a long time … I just feel like I’m in a tornado all the time and I can’t get out of it. Everything since, like, 2016, has been so hard and so horrible. It’s really taken a really bad toll on me.”
The Christina in the Country host and Tarek were married in 2009, but their relationship ended in 2016 after he fled into a wooded area with a gun after a fight between them. Christina called 911 and local law enforcement officials began searching the area. Tarek said that after hearing a helicopter flying overhead, he assumed it was for some sort of emergency like a wildfire. However, it didn’t take long for him to realize the helicopter was looking for him.
“A police officer leaning out of the helicopter pointed a rifle at me. Dust swirled around me from the spin of the blades, and a loudspeaker crackled, ‘Get your hands in the air!'” he wrote in his book, Flip Your Life: How to Find Opportunity in Distress — in Real Estate, Business and Life. “For the next several hours, I sat on a cooler on my driveway, handcuffed. That was the very last time we were together as a family: with Christina walking down the driveway, crying, and me sitting there in handcuffs, asking myself, ‘What in the world is going on?’”
After their split, Christina went on to marry Ant Anstead in 2018, but they went their separate ways after just 22 months of marriage. She then married Josh, 44, in a secret ceremony in October 2021. Josh filed for divorce in July and their split has been anything but amicable.
In July, Christina accused Josh of “diverting over $35,000” from her bank account, according to court documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight.
“I am asking for Josh to account for the funds taken and return them to me as those funds are specifically used to pay any loans, obligations, property taxes, insurance, and maintenance for these rental properties,” Christina said in the documents viewed by the outlet.
However, Josh maintained that her accusations were false.
That same month, Christina broke her silence on the former couple’s split.
“Over here waiting for the typical hired PR speech of ‘how I was blindsided and how I’m working on myself and taking time to heal at her ranch’ … Meanwhile, I’m over here not as nice and quiet as I used to be,” the Flip or Flop alum wrote via her Instagram Stories at the time. “An insecure man with a large ego can sure try to derail you — but ‘still I rise.’”
