Halsey’s ‘Kind of Naked, Kind of Classy’ Look Slayed at the 2019 MTV VMAs
It may not be Hollywood’s most glamorous awards show, but the red carpet of the 2019 MTV VMAs did not disappoint! Perhaps one of our favorite looks from the evening was Halsey. The “Nightmare” songstress, 24, dazzled in a black bra and high-waisted bottoms with a sheer red dress over top. She also colored the roots of her jet-black hair with the colors of the rainbow.
The babe hilariously described her style as “kind of naked, kind of classy” while walking the red carpet and we’re here for it.
Honestly, Halsey could have shown up in a potato sack and we would have been thrilled! After all, the New Jersey native decided to skip the event last year. Taking to Twitter on August 20, 2018, Halsey replied to a fan who asked her point-blank why she ditched the show. “[Because] I directed all of my own music videos this album just to have MTV ‘#WCW’ me to death and not nominate me for anything. So, it didn’t feel right to go. I’m happy you guys liked the videos. That’s all that matters to me.”
Of course, Halsey is referring to the killer videos from her third studio album, Hopeless Fountain King, that 100 percent deserved more recognition The good news, though, is that Halsey has been nominated eight times this year — including for Artist of The Year, along with Cardi B, Billie Eilish, Shawn Mendes, Ariana Grande and the Jonas Brothers.
Now, not to take away from Halsey’s *major* moment, but it’s worth noting another big difference between this year and last — her boyfriend! After ending things with rapper G-Eazy for the second time in October 2018, Halsey started seeing fellow musician Yungblud (real name: Dominic Harrison) a month later.
Nowadays, it’s clear that the loved-up pair are beyond smitten with each other! They even collaborated on a single together with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. It’s called “11 Minutes” and no offense to G-Eazy … or Halsey, for that matter, but it’s way better than “Him & I.”
