What. A. Mess. On Monday, March 11, Bekah Martinez was met with serious backlash after fans got the idea that The Bacheloralum, 24, wasn’t vaccinating her newborn daughter, Ruth. Scroll through the gallery below to get the full scoop — including Bekah’s epic clapback.
“Just like I talk about with birth, I think the most important thing is to have a doctor or care provider that gives you evidence-based options and allows YOU to decide what’s best for your family with no pressure or judgement,” Bekah originally shared on her Instagram Stories.
“Our pediatrician gives us full control over the decisions we make for our child,” she continued. “He has parents who choose to give their kids all available vaccines, parents who choose selectively and parents who choose not to vaccinate at all. He truly supports all decisions.”
“If you somehow got the idea that I’m anti-vaccinating yesterday … IDK how you got there, but it’s not accurate,” the proud mama wrote the following day. “I AM vaccinating my child and I made that clear …”
“We’re doing individualized schedule under the direction of a medical professional,” she continued. “My wording was totally incorrect yesterday — our pediatrician does not SUPPORT not vaccinating at all.”
“It’s not illegal, FYI,” Bekah replied to a fan who called her an anti-vaxxer. “It’s only mandatory for childcare, and people do homeschool. Calling people who vaccinate “pro-disease” and “pro-death” is f—ing twisted.
“You do realize when you go to any kind of tourist area, there are TONS of people from around the world who have never been vaccinated, right?” she reasoned. “I’m not endangering my child by taking them to my doctors officer where families don’t vaccinate anymore than someone who takes their child to Disneyland.”
