Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos, Chock Chapple’s Relationship Timeline: 1st Date to Engagement

1st Impression

Chock made quite an impression on Joan from the start. He arrived to the Bachelor mansion with a container of soup and told her, “There’s a rumor out there that you’ve got this very famous chicken noodle soup. So I made my own Chock o’noodle soup.”

Joan tried the soup and assured Chock that it was “delicious.” He was thrilled to “pass the test,” and added, “I was thinking for our hometown visit, I could make it for your family.”

“I would love that,” Joan gushed. “That’s really cute.”

1st Date

Chock received the very first one-on-one date of the season. He and Joan went to Disneyland and had a blast riding the rides and getting to know each other. Joan gave him a rose at the end of the date.

Group Date Rose

Chock went on a group date during episode 4 of The Golden Bachelorette and Joan gave him the group date rose. On the date, he told her, “I do believe that there could be a future with us.” In a confessional, Joan admitted, “Chock is the first person I can picture a future with since [my husband] John passed away.”

Heartbreaking Death

Unfortunately, the high of the group date didn’t last. Shortly afterward, Chock got the phone call that his mom had died. He told Joan he had to leave the show to be with his family during this difficult time.

However, he returned in time for the next rose ceremony. “There was no way I was not coming back,” he confirmed.

Hometown Date and Fantasy Suites

Joan met Chock’s family during his hometown date in Wichita, Kansas. She earned the approval of his dad, two children, and late fiancée’s father.

During fantasy suites week, Chock declared that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Joan. They got to know each other offcamera when they spent time together behind closed doors, although Joan made it clear that she did not plan on being physically intimate with the men in the fantasy suites.

Their Engagement

After Joan sent Guy Gansert home during the November 13, 2024, finale, she decided that Chock would be the only person to attend the final rose ceremony.

“From our first date in Disneyland, I thought I saw a future with you and it’s the first time I pictured a future with anybody else in a really long time,” she told him. “And then tragedy hit your family and your mom passed away and you had to leave. I wanted you to go but I was really worried that you weren’t going to make it back and that’s when I realized that I couldn’t do this journey without you.”

Joan continued, “I waited til this moment in this amazing location to tell you that I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”

Chock then got down on one knee and the couple officially got engaged.
