Kaitlyn Bristowe Recalls ‘Bizarre’ Engagement to Shawn Booth: It ‘Didn’t Even Feel Real’
Not exactly a fairytale. Kaitlyn Bristowe divulged some awkward details about her engagement to ex Shawn Booth on season 11 of The Bachelorette. It’s been almost one year since the Bachelor Nation couple split and more than four years since we saw the trainer get down on one knee during the finale. However, it wasn’t as magical as it seemed.
First of all, the 34-year-old noted that the big moments happened directly after crushing the heart of the runner-up — in her case, Nick Viall. “You like, you know, it’s coming. So it’s not a surprise,” the reality babe explained to Us Weekly about the proposal in an interview published on October 2. “You had to just dump one guy before who was like, you’re feeling so awful about. And then go, like, two minutes later, go into what’s supposed to be the happiest moment. It’s just … bizarre.”
In addition, creating ~TV magic~ also took away from the romance. “It didn’t even feel, like, real in that moment [when Shawn proposed] because camera crews were like, ‘OK, can you hold that,'” the Canadian beauty continued. “Then producers would be like, ‘Yeah, can we do that again? Kaitlyn, can you turn your hand slowly this way and put the ring on a little slower?” The crew wanted to capture that Neil Lane sparkler from all angles, right?
Although Kaitlyn revealed that she and Shawn “don’t talk” anymore, she noted that there’s no saltiness between them after their three-year-long relationship ended.
The podcast host has found love again with Jason Tartick, a contestant from Becca Kufrin‘s season. The duo quickly fell hard for each other and currently live together in Nashville, Tennessee. They have confirmed that they are on the fast track to happily ever after and are not looking back anytime soon.
“I think I can speak for Kaitlyn … I think Kaitlyn has an expectation within a year,” Jason told E! News in July after being asked when he plans on popping the question. “We’re on the same page. We know what we want out of this relationship.”
“I don’t have an expectation. I don’t expect anything. I just think on the path that we’re on, it would make sense that this is the next step,” Kaitlyn clarified about her intentions.
