‘Tis the season to use the holidays as an excuse to binge eat. Er, unless, of course, you’re Meghan Markle. According to royal expert and Majesty editor Ingrid Seward and Grazia magazine, the Duchess of Sussex will be weighed before and after eating Christmas dinner. Oh, and her mom, Doria Ragland, has to participate, too!

No, y’all, we’re not messing with you. Apparently, this bizarre tradition was born during King Edward VII’s reign after the monarch began to worry that people weren’t eating enough on Christmas. OK, that’s *kind of* cute… but let’s be real, we hardly think anyone at Sandringham House is going to sleep on Dec. 25 with an empty belly — least of all Prince Harry‘s pregnant wife

Thankfully, this tradition isn’t actually enforced by law, which means that Meghan can spend her first royal Christmas focusing on what matters most — her family. Phew!

That said, not everyone is entirely pleased with this year’s guest list. In fact, Kate Middleton was livid after finding out that Meghan’s mom was invited to celebrate at Queen Elizabeth‘s home. “Kate’s parents have never been asked to spend the holidays with the queen,” a palace insider previously revealed to Life & Style.

“Instead, she and William have been forced to split their time between the Middletons and the royals, shuffling their children from household to household.” Ouch. That’s definitely got to sting. “She understands that most of Meghan’s family is estranged from her and that this was a kind gesture, but it still hasn’t stopped her from thinking that Prince Harry’s wife has got it easy!” the source added.

Hmmm, well, let’s hope none of these not-so-festive feelings come out during dinnertime.
