Um, Camila Mendes’ Boyfriend Charles Melton Gave Her The Cutest Nickname And We Can’t Take It
They’re no Bughead, but Camila Mendes and boyfriend Charles Melton are pretty darn adorable. Another Riverdale couple to gush over…what a time to be alive! Camila recently went on Busy Philipps’ new show Busy Tonight to chat about the show, upcoming projects, and the nickname she received from her boyfriend.
While walking the red carpet at the People’s Choice Awards, Camila revealed that Charles’ nickname for her is “baby dragon.” It’s cute, but, like, what? “I can be quite…I guess just ferocious is the only word, but it’s like a cute type of ferocious,” the Riverdale actress explained to Busy. “I’m Brazilian, we’re like passionate, so sometimes it’s like a little baby dragon comes out.” I’m not Brazillian, but I have been hungry before so it sounds like a similar dragon situation.
Camila and Charles are a smoking hot couple, but it sounds like the whole cast bonded while in the “bubble” of shooting Season 1 and beyond. “At the end of the day, we all became so close because we were going through the exact same thing,” Camila remembered fondly.
As for the fame that came as a result, Camila is trying to stay true to herself while learning how to deal with the press storm. “I’m not naturally a private person so I try to bring that side of me out in public, too. I’m still learning boundaries with myself.”
That includes being open about her relationship. “I like to talk to people so my instinct is always just to talk about it, but then the famous side of me is like don’t do that. At the end of the day [our relationship] is a private thing.”
Another side effect of fame is dealing with all the headlines. If Camila and Busy’s solution to “delete the internet” doesn’t work, the actress will continue to let things roll off her back. “For me, it’s helpful to acknowledge that there are going to be people out there who don’t like me. There are going to be people who hate on me, and is it really worth trying to fight that?”
It’s all about staying confident in who she is and reassuring herself: “I know who I am, I know what I meant when I said that, and that’s ok.” The starlet is handling the spotlight with so much grace and even has a new movie, The New Romantic, out now. There are definitely big things on the horizon for Camila.
