Another season in the books! The Voice crowned Jake Hoot from Kelly Clarkson‘s team as its season 17 winner, but there were a lot of other surprises during the 2019 finale episode on December 17.

The finalists were all extremely talented and the competition was stiff. Ricky Duran from Blake Shelton‘s team was the runner-up, John Legend‘s ringer Katie Kadan placed in third and Rose Short from Team Gwen Stefani landed in fourth. While the contestants lit up the stage, the night was stacked with special performances from major A-listers including Jennifer Hudson, Maelyn, Lady Antebellum, Black Eyed Peas with J Balvin, Dua Lipa, Luke Combs and more.

However, it was all about who would reign supreme in the singing competition. Katie blew the audience away with a cover of Cher‘s “Believe” with Adam Lambert. Rose then hit the stage with Yolanda Adams, who also happens to be her favorite gospel singer, to perform “In the Midst of It All.” Ricky also had the chance to sing “Pearl Cadillac” with Gary Clark Jr., one of his favorite artists. Finally, Jake and country group Little Big Town joined forces for the bop “Over Drinking.”

Overall, the finale was entertaining and fun. All of the contestants brought the heat, and we hope to see a lot more from them in the next year. However, one person didn’t have a drama-free night — Chrissy Teigen. The cookbook author recounted the hilarious story on Twitter about her husband and esteemed Voice coach, John, inviting the other coaches over for a celebration dinner.

“I didn’t know tonight was The Voice finale. John invited everyone to dinner at the house after and I’m really f–king mad because I didn’t make a f–king FINALE meal,” the Sports Illustrated model began on Twitter. “I would have gotten a cake or something too?? Who the f–k does this? [You] don’t win The Voice then eat short ribs.” Honestly, short ribs prepared by the author of Cravings doesn’t sound too shabby. “If [you] think this is stupid go ahead and tell me what you made when Blake, Kelly and Gwen came over to your house,” she added. Fair point.

Luckily, the couple was able to order cakes before their A-list guests arrived and it looked like everyone had a great evening — Chrissy even got to stay in her cozy SKIMS robe and pajama set.

Until next season, folks!
