Hey, it could happen!
Despite their very public fight on the set of American Idol last month, Idol judge Nicki Minaj says she’d be up to sing a duet with co-judge, Mariah Carey, on the show.
“I would do that,” the 29-year-old hip-hop songstress tells E! News when they approached her about the idea. “I think people would be interested in seeing that.”
On Sunday, Nov. 4, the “Starships” singer opened up about her new Idol gig on the first part of her E! special “Nicki Minaj: My Truth” — and she wasn’t so sure about her choice to join the panel, which also consists of country music star Keith Urban and veteran judge Randy Jackson.
“I’m just super nervous and anxious for my first day at American Idol,” she says. “I’m still second guessing my decision [to joint he show].”
And in preview clip for part two (see video below), which will air on Nov. 11, Nicki talks candidly about Mariah.
“I think Mariah met her match this time,” the singer says. “I don’t think she was expecting to meet her match.”
NEWS: Nicki Minaj curses out Mariah Carey on American Idol set
It wouldn’t be the first time this pair have come together in the music world if the duet happens. In 2010, Nicki was featured on Mariah’s song “Up Out My Face” and starred in the music video.
But one big question remains: Does Mariah feel the same way about a possible duet? We’ll just have to wait and see!
American Idol will kick off its 12th season with a two-night event on Jan. 16 and 17 on FOX.
