Actress Evangeline Lilly loves doing her own stunts and had planned on doing many of them herself in her new movie The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. But once she became a first-time mom, all those plans went out the window.
The former Lost star, who plays an elf named Tauriel in the flick, admitted, "The difference in my body from pre-pregnancy to post-baby was night and day. I didn't have the strength, I didn't have the flexibility, I didn't have the stamina, I didn't have the mobility." She added, "I felt like I was handicapped."

Canada-born Evangeline welcomed Kahekili, her son with longtime boyfriend Norman Kali, in 2011. The couple met while Evangeline was filming Lost in Norman's native Aloha State. Kahekili's name means "thunder" in Hawaiian.
Still, the actress acknowledges that her post-baby challenges weren't just physical. "My brain was in nursing mode, in mommy mode. I was all soft and gooey and happy, and then Peter [Jackson, who directed the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings movies] would be like 'more grit'!"
When Lost ended in 2010, Evangeline had originally said she planned to retire from acting and focus solely on parenting and philanthropy. We're happy to see that she was able to come back to work on her own terms.
