Artem Chigvintsev Says Fiancee Nikki Bella Helps Him ‘Come Out of His Shell More’
Opposites attract! Nikki Bella’s fiancé, Artem Chigvintsev, revealed how the pair’s differences actually help him grow as a person. Speaking with Lilian Garcia on her podcast, “Chasing Glory,” the former DWTS pro, 37, said it’s “great” that Nikki, 36, has a “big personality.”
“It helps me to come out of my shell more, you know? Because I’m very reserved,” Artem admitted. Of course, the newly engaged couple has things in common, too — particularly when it comes to work ethic. Artem explained how training with Nikki on season 25 of Dancing With the Stars allowed their friendship and mutual respect to blossom.
“Obviously, when you’re on a show, I kid you not, there are no days off. You’re trying to find time to rehearse at any point in the day … simply because you’re under so much pressure to do better next week because it’s kinda — this is what you strive for. This is what you’re here to do,” the Russia-born dancer recalled.
“I love that side of her. To me, that was like, admirable in a sense because I felt like I haven’t had that in a very, very long time. She’s like SpongeBob cause she’s like, ‘No I wanna learn this, I wanna learn that.’ I was like, ‘Oh my god, this is amazing,’” Artem continued. “So, knowing that side of her … it kind of made me understand who she is as a person. You know? I think that’s where I was like, ‘Wow, she’s really cool.’ She’s an awesome person to have as a friend.”
As we now know, Artem’s friendship with the Total Bellas star eventually turned romantic after Nikki split from ex-boyfriend John Cena. In January 2019, a source exclusively revealed to Life & Style that the former costars decided to give things a shot. “They got together for dinner and the chemistry from the dance floor came right back,” the insider dished at the time. “They hit it off. They’re taking it slow, but they’re really into each other.”
And the rest, as they say, was history!
