‘Bachelor’ Star Ben Higgins Reacts to Ex Lauren Bushnell’s Engagement: ‘I Hope This Is a Chapter Being Closed’
The end of an era. Bachelor star Ben Higgins reacted to his ex-fiancée, Lauren Bushnell, getting engaged to country music singer Chris Lane. The blonde beauty announced that her beau got down on one knee on Tuesday, June 18, and seems over-the-moon excited. Lauren and Ben broke things off in 2017 after getting engaged during season 20 of the reality show. It turns out, her ex is rooting for her … from afar.
“Ultimately, we left that relationship, both of us, I think, saying, ‘I hope life brings you a ton of joy, I don’t want you upset and alone forever. I hope you find a partner as soon as possible. I hope everything that you want in this world that’s healthy and good is given to you,'” the 30-year-old explained during his “Almost Famous” podcast the same day Lauren’s engagement was announced. “And that’s exactly how I feel. So, to go to Lauren: Lauren, congratulations!”
Although the former duo had a tumultuous relationship that ended after a rocky reality show spin-off, there doesn’t seem to be any saltiness between them. “We’re thrilled for you,” Ben continued. “You found a man that you love without any pressure and in a moment, after dating for a long time, you have said ‘yes’ to spending your life with him and I could not be more excited for you. I want nothing but joy and everything you ever wanted that our relationship would’ve have brought you and Chris. Congratulations.”
The Colorado native mentioned that he wants that part of his life to be permanently shut. He pleaded with fans to be supportive of the former flight attendant. “I hope for Lauren and myself, is that my life isn’t as closely tied to Lauren anymore. I hope that people aren’t reaching out,” he said. “I hope this is a chapter being closed completely because I don’t know Lauren anymore and my life isn’t tied to her.”
Ben is also happy with where life has taken him. He is currently smitten with his gorgeous girlfriend, Jessica Clarke, and keeps busy with his company, Generous Coffee.
