Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik Are Back Together But ‘Taking It Slow’ After Birthday Outing
Rekindled romance! Model Gigi Hadid and her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Zayn Malik, are back together, an insider revealed to Life & Style. They made their first public outing as a couple on Saturday, January 11, as they were spotted heading to the former One Direction singer’s birthday dinner at the Mediterranean–Italian restaurant il Buco in New York City.
“Yes they’re giving their relationship another shot but are keeping it on the down-low and taking it slow,” the source exclusively told Life & Style. “Gigi’s family is warning her to think twice — they don’t want to see her get hurt again.”
According to photos obtained by The Daily Mail, Gigi, 24, and Zayn, 27, walked arm in arm as they headed to the restaurant, where they were joined by sister Bella Hadid, mother Yolanda Hadid, brother, Anwar Hadid, and Anwar’s girlfriend, pop star Dua Lipa. Gigi and the “Pillowtalk” singer wore color-coordinated outfits: she sported a lime green pantsuit with a white turtleneck and white sneakers while Zayn wore a patterned lime green jacket, a white T-shirt, jeans and white sneakers.
While neither Gigi nor Zayn have refrained from going Instagram official with their newly reconciled relationship, the blonde beauty did drop a major hint about it back in December by tagging the former boy-bander’s mother, Tricia Brannan Malik, in a post on her Instagram Story. “Sunday in the kitchen: about to marinate the chicken for one of my favorites!” the supermodel wrote on December 29. “@mamamalik’s Chicken Curry Pasta salad. Hopefully, she’ll share the recipe with the world one day.”
The couple’s love story began in November 2015, after they met at a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show afterparty. But their relationship was off and on, and their first split took place in June 2016. They quickly got back together and dated for two more years until they broke up again in March 2018. “Gigi and I had an incredibly meaningful, loving, and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and a friend,” Zayn wrote in a statement on Twitter at the time. “She has such an incredible soul. I’m grateful to all of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time, we wish this news could have come from us first. We love you all. xZ.”
Zayn and Gigi rekindled their love again in June 2018, but by January 2019, they had called it quits again. They kept in communication, even throughout Gigi’s two-month fling with The Bachelorette alum Tyler Cameron. By October 2019, Tyler and Gigi’s relationship fizzled out, and now it seems like after that split, Gigi decided to give Zayn another chance.
