Keeping it simple is key, especially when it comes to health and fitness. Believe it or not, that’s also singer Gwen Stefani‘s mindset when it comes to staying fit and healthy. In fact, the 50-year-old bombshell specifically curtails her routines to only what she feels she needs — and not one bit more. But ultimately, she’s more about listening to her bod than forcing it through a rigorous training sesh.
“I have no magic thing that I do to stay fit. I eat really clean, do my shows, and work out. I always feel better when I’m in a routine even though I sometimes hate it,” the former No Doubt frontwoman told Shape in a new interview, on newsstands October 11. “I play tennis, badly, with Blake.”
Naturally, we’re thrilled to know Gwen’s boyfriend, Blake Shelton, plays such a pivotal role in her process! Plus, she not only hits the court with the 43-year-old, but also takes him to the gym with her. Couple goals, man. “Then we go to the gym. I like to do squats and lunges and light weights,” she revealed. “I don’t go crazy like I used to. I do just enough to make my body feel good.”
In the songwriter’s mind, the big health and fitness buzzword “balance” is huge. Realistically, the practice grounds her not only to her health but also to moments with her family, including her three sons, Kingston, Zuma and Apollo.
“Balance is the hardest thing, but it’s also the most important — being with my family, having time with Blake where we just watch movies. It seems like, with your career, you have to keep swimming, keep moving, or else you’re going to look back and go, ‘Shoot, it’s over,'” she revealed to the outlet about how busy her career can get.
“I don’t like feeling like that. I want to do creative things when I want, and I want to stop chasing all the time,” she continued. “It’s hard, but I’m really enjoying being in the moment.” Between her fulfilling life with the country crooner and her recently-announced departure from The Voice, it looks as though the blonde beauty has her home life and her career all figured out.
