Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Admit Their ‘Kids’ Are the ‘Inspiration’ Behind Their Home’s Design
Parenthood! Kim Kardashian and Kanye West‘s four children — North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm — are the “inspiration” behind the design of their minimalist Calabasas home. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians couple sat down with Architectural Digest and dished details about how becoming ~mom and dad~ influenced their style.
“Kids are the inspiration for all of our designs now moving forward,” Kanye, 42, explained in the YouTube video on February 3. “Say, in the backyard, there were all these stairs, and we wanted the kids … to ride their scooters and skateboards around and not have to stop at the stairs. So, as many places as I can take the stairs out, I try — I did.”
6-year-old North joined her parents for a few minutes during the interview, and upon hearing she had so much weight in the decision making, she promptly asked, “Can we get the bumpy stairs?”
“That’s what I’m saying, it’s going to be bumpy everything,” her dad laughed. We’re not sure what bumpy stairs are but we’re definitely intrigued.
Kim, 39, and Kanye’s house is a marvel — from their floating sinks to multiple refrigerators. However, the A-list couple has another interesting project on the horizon for their storage needs. The KKW Beauty founder said that they currently have things stashed in hidden walls hidden or cabinets “that you can’t see.”
“That’s the next frontier for the closets are to be an outright store. Because, if you go to a store, you see everything that’s for sale,” the “Follow God” artist explained. “So, the closet, the scale, has to be bigger so that everything can be visible but still laid out in a really nice way because that lowers anxiety, just knowing where your stuff is.”
Overall, the couple is going for a “more minimal, more chill” vibe. “Our lives are so hectic and so crazy. There’s always so much going on that I love to come home to full simplicity and just lay in bed and chill,” Kim added. The busy starlet confessed that she “wouldn’t be able to get as much done” if there were too much clutter in the house. TBH, that’s a great reason to keep your home tidy.
