Here’s How Meghan Markle Will Be Spending Her First Birthday as a Member of the Royal Family
It’s almost Meghan Markle‘s 37th birthday! So, how exactly will the Duchess of Sussex be celebrating her first birthday as a member of the British royal family? According to People, Meghan and Prince Harry will actually be attending a friend’s wedding on Saturday, Aug. 4.
Meghan and Harry will allegedly step out at the Duke of Sussex’s Ludgrove Prep School pal Charlie Van Straubenzee’s wedding to Daisy Jenks in Surrey, England this weekend. The couple previously got engaged in December 2017 and have been dating for several years.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are also expected to attend Charlie and Daisy’s nuptials. William is close to Charlie’s older brother, Thomas Van Straubenzee, who is one of Princess Charlotte‘s five godparents.
The Van Straubenzee and Jenks wedding is actually not the first nuptials Harry and Meghan have attended as newlywed couple after they tied the knot at Windsor Castle in mid-May. In June, the duo celebrated Princess Diana’s niece Celia McCorquodale‘s marriage to George Woodhouse.

Sadly, Meghan won’t be celebrating her 37th year with a lavish birthday party after she and Harry return from the Van Straubenzee and Jenks wedding. According to The Sun, royal tradition dictates that members of the monarchy celebrate their birthdays privately at home and never throw a big party to ring in the special occasion.
When Harry turned 33 years old back in September 2017, he and his then-girlfriend Meghan — they didn’t announce their royal engagement until two months later! — had a “low-key” celebration at their Kensington Palace home. “Harry doesn’t like to make a fuss of birthdays so he liked that it was just the two of them. Sometimes it doesn’t have to be a huge thing with a group of friends,” a source told E! News of the celebration last year.
