It’s a boy! Meghan Markle gave birth to her first child, a son. The duchess, 37, and Prince Harry welcomed the baby on Monday, May 6.

“We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz.,” the royal couple’s Instagram account announced.

Luckily, it sounds like everything went off without a hitch. The statement continued, “The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives.”

The birth of their first child came almost exactly a year after the couple had their royal wedding in May 2018. Since then, the duke, 34, and the former actress have been attending their royal engagements until they took it down a notch in October 2018 when they announced they were expecting their first child. “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” Kensington wrote on Twitter in mid-October.

At the time, Meghan and Harry were in Australia for their two-week long royal tour. On the same day that news of their pregnancy broke, they were given their very first baby gift — an adorable stuffed animal kangaroo with its joey tucked into its pouch. Very appropriate!

In the following months, the royal couple has kept their traveling to a minimum, especially Meghan, who for the most part stayed in England with the exception of her baby shower, which took place in New York City. In February, the Suits alum traveled all the way to the states to celebrate her baby alongside some of her closest friends. Serena Williams and Amal Clooney were a few of the A-Listers in attendance, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see them pop up and show the new mom some support during this special time in her life.

According to a source who spoke to Us Weekly, Meg has been sort of anxious waiting for this moment. “Sources close to Meghan say that, like any new mom-to-be, she’s feeling somewhat nervous as the due date approaches, but Harry is there by her side,” an insider revealed. Luckily, the hardest part is over. That being said, congrats to the new parents!
