Nikki Bella’s Mom Worries She Hasn’t Taken Relationship With Artem ‘Seriously’: ‘I’m More Cautious’
Keeping it real! Nikki Bella‘s mom, Kathy Colace, was hesitant about having her daughter’s fiancé, Artem Chigvintsev, join them in a family portrait — and she was pretty vocal about it during a sneak peek for the April 23 episode of Total Bellas.
“I question sometimes if Nicole’s really taken her relationship seriously,” the mom of three, 55, confessed. “That’s the reason I’m more cautious with Artem. This is my birthday present — my family together in a family photo.”
Naturally, Nikki, 36, worried excluding Artem, 37, would “hurt” his feelings. However, she was leaving it up to her mom to deliver the news. “It’s her family photo, so I’m going to let her take full control,” the mom-to-be divulged. “I don’t want to be a part of it. Whatever happens, it’s on her. She’ll deal with it. And she’ll feel bad.”
Kathy isn’t the only parent to question Nikki’s relationship with Artem. During the season premiere of Total Bellas on April 9, viewers got to see Nikki’s dad, Jon Garcia, meet the former Dancing With the Stars pro for the first time. Jon did not hesitate to interrogate his future son-in-law.
“Your relationship with her, is it real?” Jon asked Artem, to which he confirmed it is. Ultimately, Jon was looking out for his daughter. “I just want her happiness, and I want something real for her,” he told Artem. The Russia native agreed, adding, “Well, that’s something we have in common then.”
Nikki and Artem’s relationship is as serious and as real as it gets. The pair are not only engaged but also expecting their first child together. For now, they’ve decided to put wedding planning on hold to focus on their bundle of joy, who is set to arrive in the summer.
“I found out literally like less than two weeks later or two weeks later, and it just rocked us,” Nikki exclusively told Life & Style. “I told Artem, I was like, ‘Artem, we have this baby, we can not do wedding planning because I just need to wrap my head around, like, I’m going to be a mom in less than nine months!’”
