Prince Harry’s Reception Speech to Meghan Markle Was Reportedly “Very Informal and Very Dear”
Two days ago, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married in a royal wedding that was watched my millions of people worldwide. However, very little is known about what happened at the private receptions that followed. Now, one royal wedding guest is revealing what the groom said to his new bride during his speech at the afternoon reception held at Windsor Castle.
“He said, ‘I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you,'” the guest told People magazine. “It was very informal and very dear.” Cue the waterworks. The source also reported that while Harry, 33, was nervous, it was not the main emotion he was feeling that day. “There will always be nerves — I’ve never seen a bridegroom who isn’t, but what came over to me was this sheer sense of love and commitment,” the guest added. “It was so strong. Everyone felt that. It was amazing — when you think what that boy has been through. He loves her and she clearly loves him. It really is a fairy tale.”
Prince Harry was not the only member of the royal family who gave a speech during the private party. Prince William reportedly said a few words about his little brother — and made more than one dirty joke. Guests were also moved to tears by his father Prince Charles’ touching tribute, which reportedly ended with the line, “My darling old Harry, I’m so happy for you.”
Harry and Meghan, 36, tied the knot on Saturday, May 19, in front of 600 guests at St. George’s Chapel. Celebrity guests included David and Victoria Beckham, Elton John, and Meghan’s BFFs Serena Williams, Priyanka Chopra and the cast of Suits. Unfortunately, the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex might have to delay their honeymoon for royal duties. The newlyweds are expected at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday for the Prince of Wales’s 70th birthday celebrations.
