Rachel Lindsay Says Becca Kufrin ‘Is Doing Great’ Following Garrett Yrigoyen Split: ‘I’m Proud’
Women supporting women! The Bachelorette’s Rachel Lindsay revealed that her longtime friend Becca Kufrin ‘is doing great’ following reports she and fiancé Garrett Yrigoyen ended their engagement after nearly two years together.
“What I respect about Becca is she doesn’t feed into rumors or negativity or anything that’s swirling out there,” Rachel, 35, told Us Weekly of her “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast cohost. “She’s just moving along. She’s surrounding herself with people that she loves and she’s doing her thing.”
According to E! News, Becca, 30, and Garrett, 31, who got engaged on season 14 of The Bachelorette, called it quits after the former contestant’s controversial statements about law enforcement amid protests against police brutality and the death of George Floyd in early June.
“Their lifestyles don’t mesh anymore,” a source told the outlet on August 6. “Garrett wants different things and they came to a realization that they aren’t compatible anymore.”
Rachel explained she appreciates the fact Becca “doesn’t feel the need to confirm or deny” the status of her relationship. “She’s just like, ‘I’m living my life,'” the Texas native added. “I am proud of Becca for doing Becca. Like, I’m proud for her for, you know? Like doing things her way.”
In Rachel’s opinion, Becca’s romance with the California native “hadn’t been tested” prior to this year. “Then you have what happened with the pandemic — with Black Lives Matter — and you’re seeing a lot of people’s true colors come out.”
Rachel noted while “some people are recognizing their ignorance and are wanting to change,” others “[are] doubling down,” adding Garrett “is a person who has doubled down. So to me … he’s not willing to change.”
In the weeks following Becca and Garrett’s breakup, the Minnesota native appears to be thriving. “Finding the light,” she captioned a striking selfie with her dog on August 26. Just two days later, she shared an Instagram Story with a fun sticker that read: “Living my best life.”
