Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson Have Been ‘Best Friends’ for Years — Learn About the Australian Hunk!

On October 4, a video surfaced of the singer kissing Miley Cyrus on the heels of her divorce from Liam Hemsworth and her very public (and quick) fling with The Hills: New Beginnings star Kaitlynn Carter. The 22-year-old Australian hunk released her first album Surfer’s Paradise in 2013 and has been featured on the soundtrack of hit movies like Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2, Hop and Kindergarten Cop 2. He also has a track called “Home to Mama” with Justin Bieber.
While he’s still relatively new in the industry, the blonde heartthrob opened up to GQ Australia about his longtime friendship with the 27-year-old former Disney kid back in December 2015. “Miley is one of my best friends and she helps with some of that transitional stuff — trying to escape your childhood. She’s super open-minded and I’m working on becoming more like that,” he gushed about the “Malibu” singer.
If he and Miley did become more than friends, this wouldn’t be Cody’s first high-profile relationship. He previously dated Gigi Hadid, but they split in May 2015.
“It was a super-cool experience, having a first love like that,” he told GQ about his romance with the catwalk queen, whom he remained friends with after their relationship ended. “Then people started paying way more attention to us, which took its toll because I didn’t want to be a celebrity — just some guy who’s dating models. It started getting super gnarly where we couldn’t go out to restaurants. I got scared. Then I had to go away on tour, and we ended up splitting up.”
He definitely fell hard for the Victoria’s Secret babe. The “La Da Dee” singer shared the sweetest tribute about his then-girlfriend for her 20th birthday back in April 2015. Although this was only one month before they ended things for good, it’s clear they had a lot of love between them. “Happy 20th birthday to my best mate! you are a woman of soul and substance. The coolest chick in all the land and a malibu babe at heart no matter where you are on this earth that we roam. Thank you for smothering me with your big cheeks,” he wrote on Instagram.
