Doctor and ABC News reporter, Jamie Zimmerman, died suddenly at the age of 31 on Monday while vacationing in Hawaii.
Her mother, Jordan Zimmerman, said she "slipped on some rocks at the mouth of Lumahai River" on the island of Kauai and drowned after being swept out to sea.

"Life guards and paramedics rushed to rescue Jamie, but were not able to resuscitate her," Jordan wrote on Facebook.

According to the network, Jamie researched stories for ABC's medical unit and ran mediation sessions for staff in New York. Her other accomplishments include helping Congolese refugees in Zambia and working with indigenous people on the Amazon in Peru.

"My little girl was always trying to do too much," Jordan wrote. "She wanted to write books and already had a literary agent. She just couldn't stop taking on more. It's as if she knew her time was limited and she was trying to fit it all in!"
