Amanda Bynes will not be at today’s scheduled court hearing, reports TMZ.
And that’s because the troubled starlet has just been placed under an extended, 30-day psychiatric hold. Her doctors are responsible for making it happen — not her parents, who are currently seeking a conservatorship over their daughter.
TMZ says the doctors at the psychiatric hospital in California where Amanda is staying have been closely evaluating the actress and deemed her “not well enough” to leave the facility to attend the conservatorship hearing.
Amanda Bynes Placed Under 5150 Mental Health HoldSources tell the outlet “doctors went to a judge who traveled to the hospital to conduct an emergency hearing. The judge granted the doctors’ request, and extended Amanda’s psych hold for 30 days.”
The law states that this can only happen if the patient is “gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder.”
Amanda Bynes’ Parents Court Bound for Temporary Conservatorship
TMZ also states that Amanda’s parents, Rick Bynes and Lynn Organ, will still seek the temporary conservatorship because it stays effective until Sept. 30.
On July 22, the 27-year-old was placed under a 72-hour 5150 mental health hold for starting a fire in the driveway of someone’s home in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Days later, her parents officially requested a hearing seeking the conservatorship, which would allow them to have complete control over her assets.
