Priyanka Chopra Was ‘Hurt’ That Meghan Markle Didn’t Go To Her Wedding
Trouble between besties? Priyanka Chopra is sad that Meghan Markle couldn’t attend her nuptials to Nick Jonas, a source revealed to Life & Style. “Priyanka was hurt, but she understood. Meghan said it was a huge undertaking and that India was a long way to travel while she’s pregnant,” the source continued.
The Isn’t It Romantic star, 36, got married to Nick Jonas, 26, in December 2018, while Meghan, 37, wed Prince Harry, 34, in May 2018. The Duchess of Sussex announced that she was expecting just two months before Priyanka walked down the aisle. However, Meghan managed to fly to New York City for her baby shower, and the one person that was noticeably missing? Priyanka.
“Meghan decided to have her baby shower in New York City, which is almost the same distance as traveling from London to India,” the source continued.
Ultimately, the Bollywood star decided to skip the event. “It sounds petty, very high school, but Priyanka’s feelings were hurt,” the insider dished. “She may have stuck to her guns, but Priyanka probably regrets not attending what turned out to be a very star-studded baby shower.” Star-studded indeed! Amal Clooney, Serena Williams, Gayle King and Abigail Spencer were just some of the names at the A-list spectacle.
In May 2018, the newlywed couldn’t help but gush about her friend. “She still texts a lot, which is great,” the Quantico alum said on The Rachael Ray Show. “I’m so happy for everything that’s happened to her because I really do feel like she’s one of those female icons that I feel could be a strong idol for girls around the world. She really cares about the world, like for real cares.”
She added, “I think she was born to be a global influencer and this has given her the opportunity to do that, because she’s always been someone who’s so aware and interested in the world. I met her three or four years ago and that’s what we bonded on, how much we feel like we can contribute to that as public people. And I really feel like that’s what she was born to do, and I hope this gives her the opportunity to do that.”
