Christina Aguilera Trades Her Signature Dramatic Look for a Bare Face on Her ‘Paper’ Mag Cover
We can't believe how young Christina Aguilera looks under all of that lipstick and mascara! The pop diva traded her bold signature look for a completely bare face on the cover of Paper magazine, and even with absolutely no makeup on at all, the 37-year-old looks flawless. "I'm a performer, that's who I am by nature," she explained in the interview. "But I'm at the place, even musically, where it's a liberating feeling to be able to strip it all back and appreciate who you are and your raw beauty."
While Christina has been going for more subtle makeup since the American Music Awards in November, we can't get over how perfect her skin is when it's completely bare. We did some digging to figure out how she keeps it so clear when she usually wears so much makeup. “I remove my makeup with MAC wipes, cleanse with a gentle cleanser, and apply eye cream in the morning and night," she told In Style in 2017. "My beauty must-have is a good, rich moisturizer to keep my dry skin hydrated." So simple!
Makeup is such an important part of Xtina's identity, and it was cool to see her totally stripped down. "Looking back on my past looks is always a treat because I honestly don’t feel there are any mistakes or fashion ‘don’ts’ when it comes to glam,” she explained, referring to her dramatic look in the "Dirrty" music video. "It’s about exploring and self-expression at that moment in time, and I am proud of the risks I took even if looking back they may not have been the most mainstream.”
So, is she done with makeup for good? Probably not. "I mean, I'm a girl that likes a beat face, let's not get it twisted," she told Paper. "I love the Old Hollywood glam look the most,” she promised In Style. "I always go back to platinum curls with a red lip. This look is bold, confident, and feminine.” Keep being you, Xtina!
