Actress turned lifestyle guru Gwyneth Paltrow is known for her lavish and unrelatable lifestyle — you guys don't expect her to pretend to only make $25,000 a year, right? Well, in an attempt to prove she is on the joke (hint: she's not), her 2017 Goop Christmas wish list is literally peak Gwyneth.
This year's list has surpassed all her previous round-ups that cater solely to the top 1 percent of gift givers. Even Oprah Winfrey would roll her eyes if she ever got a Goop newsletter with this gift guide. And her out-of-touch company has listed a $510 umbrella and a portable yurt as must-have gifts in the past. (In case you're wondering, a portable yurt is basically a really glam tent.)
"It's got a few layers to it," she told Harper's Bazaar when asked about the backlash her company faces. "People were fine with me as an actress, but with Goop it was like, 'Stay in your lane.' Women, in general, get a lot of pushback, especially if you're successful and attractive… I'm not saying I'm attractive. I mean when you're considered attractive." Sigh.
Aptly titled "The Ridiculous, But Awesome Gift Guide," this will help those who are having a hard time finding the perfect gift for a friend or loved one — if they happen to be Bill Gates or Elon Musk. And as expected, fans are having a love-hate relationship with the whole thing. "I can't get over Gwyneth's gift guide this year," one fan tweeted before another added, "Nothing brings me as much joy as the Goop holiday gift guide. But here’s a few guides I like for people who live on planet Earth."
From a personalized yellow submarine to a private island in Belize, here are the most ridiculous items from Gwyneth's annual wish list:
