Two days after Kelly Ripa said that the Bachelor franchise “disgusts” her on air, this season’s current Bachelorette star, Hannah Brown, paid a visit to Live With Kelly and Ryan. The ladies came face-to-face for an interview after the host made her feelings about the show very clear.

“I’m not sure if they told you backstage, I’m not behind this at all,” Kelly, 48, confessed while the former beauty queen, 24, sat in the hot seat. “What a lovely girl. You blink twice, I will get you out of here. All you have to do is look at me and blink, and I will show you the way.” The longtime talk show host is an expert at using her humor to cut any sort of tension.

Luckily, Hannah seemed completely unbothered by the recent drama surrounding Kelly’s comments. “I’m good … I’m glad to be here,” the Alabama native promised.

The mom-of-three admitted that she was curious about the shift that happened when Hannah transitioned from contestant to leading lady. “How is it different?” she inquired. “I am very against women fighting over a guy. I don’t believe in it. I think it’s — you know, weird and sets us back. But now, you are in the power position.”

Not surprisingly, the Southern belle had a very diplomatic answer. “Like you, I didn’t really follow the show. I wasn’t a big fan,” she revealed. “Being a part of the show, it’s not women fighting against each other. Really, some of my best friends came from the show, and were really supportive.” Two of Hannah’s closest pals from the show, Demi Burnett and Katie Morton, even helped to weed out a contestant who had a girlfriend on night one.

She continued, “When you have a group of 30 people together, there’s going to be people who don’t like each other. That’s just simple facts. It was one of the most empowering things that I ever did because I had to grow as an individual. That is why I decided that I wanted to be the Bachelorette. That’s why I wanted that so bad.”

Kelly and Hannah will probably never see eye-to-eye on the reality show, but it was definitely interesting to see them hash it out!
