The duo got engaged back in March but aren’t in any rush to get down the aisle. “I think we have a pretty busy year ahead of us, so you know, we are [taking it slow],” the Second Act star, 49, told ET about wedding planning on May 28.

In It for the Long Haul

The Grammy nominee explained that the lovebirds simply want to make their wedding unforgettable. “There’s no rush. We really see this as something that’s gonna be forever, and we’re gonna just take our time and do it right. And do it not rushed,” she noted. The “Booty” singer has been married three times and Alex is also divorced, but it sounds like they just needed time to find the right person.

Took Their Time

Although they are completely smitten with each other now, Jennifer confessed that it took “a year” before realizing Alex was the one. “I was just saucin’ it out. I was like, ‘Maybe yes, maybe no. I really love him. I like him,” she said during an appearance on SiriusXM on April 4. “Everything just seemed too perfect too soon. So it almost made me go like, ‘Hey, wait, what’s happening?’ Let me just wait a second … When it happened, I think it was the right time. We both knew.”
