It’s her first Mother’s DayMeghan Markle and Prince Harry took to their official Instagram page on May 12 to celebrate mothers around the world for the duchess’ first holiday as a mom. The royal couple posted a sweet photo of new royal baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor‘s little feet, paired with some powerful words.

“Paying tribute to all mothers today — past, present, mothers-to-be and those lost but forever remembered,” the @sussexroyal post read. “We honor and celebrate each and every one of you.” The adorable photo of baby Archie’s tiny legs and feet, as well as the duchess’ hand accompanied the sweet and celebratory caption.

Believe it or not, this is the first Mother’s Day being celebrated by a member of the royal family on this date — the holiday is actually observed in March in the United Kingdom. “Today is Mother’s Day in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, Japan, and several countries across Europe,” the couple’s post continued.

Of course, they also highlighted the monumental first holiday for the 37-year-old: “This is the first Mother’s Day for The Duchess of Sussex.”

The post closed out with a beautiful quote from a poem, celebrating moms everywhere and the foundation they give us. “Quote from ‘lands,'” the final part of the caption read. “My mother was my first country; the first place i ever lived.”

Royal baby Archie was born on May 6 and the Sussexes announced his arrival on their Instagram page. Two days later, first photos of the proud parents and their new son were released, followed by the announcement of his name. Fans of Riverdale took to the internet in droves to applaud the use of the iconic redhead’s moniker. Considering the Prince himself is a redhead, it seems like the intention was there.

Congratulations to the duchess on her first Mother’s Day as a mama!
