Fans are totally freaking out over the royal baby’s name! Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s brand new baby boy, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, was born on May 6, but the Sussexes took to their official Instagram on May 8 to announce the moniker — and fans are overjoyed. They’ve also taken to comparing the new baby with one of his most popular namesakes, Archie Andrews.

“Archie? I like it,” one fan wrote, while another chimed in with an interesting tidbit about his second name: “How cute that Harrison also says [Harry’s] son?” That’s definitely historically true, as names with “son” at the end were once used as a possessive. We hope they selected the middle name with that in mind!

Another fan threw out another popular thought about the royal baby’s name — and any baby name that makes the news. “Laugh now, but [five] years from now, gonna be a few years span of a whole bunch of Archies showing up for their first day of Kindergarten,” they wrote, and TBH, they’re probably not wrong.

Most fans, though, are dying over the name due to one particular beloved character: Archie Andrews of both Riverdale and the Archie comics fame. The character has seen a huge resurgence in popularity due to the CW show, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see another uptick in love for the title.

“Let’s just all respect the power move of a ginger prince naming his son Archie,” one fan tweeted with a gif of the comic book character in his original form, while another follower mused, “Imagine if Prince Archie inherits his dad’s ginger hair!” with a cute photo of the cartoon boy.

Other fans showed love for KJ Apa, the actor who plays the comic icon on the CW drama. “Prince Archie Andrews Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor,” one user wrote and attached a shirtless photo of the actor with his abs on display. Even Netflix got in on the joke. “Archie, Earl of Riverdale,” they wrote on their Canadian account.

But possibly the best fan reaction to date is a simple one — but it had us in absolute stitches: “OK, who had ‘Archie Harrison’ in the name pool?”

Anyone? No? We didn’t think so. We love this unique and unexpected name!
