Maybe next time! Meghan Markle will be celebrating the holidays with her royal family at Sandringham House in Norfolk, but unfortunately her mother won’t be partaking in the festivities. Doria Ragland wasn’t “formally invited for this Christmas,” according to a new report.

This news comes shortly after Kensington Palace confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, will spend Christmas day with Prince Harry, 34, and Meghan, at the estate in England with Queen Elizabeth. “[Doria] is of course welcome at Sandringham,” an insider tells Us. “But wasn’t formally invited for this Christmas.” The upcoming holiday marks the second Christmas that Meghan will celebrate with Harry’s family. Now the couple is expecting their first child together and they couldn’t be more excited.

The Suits actress, 37, broke tradition by attending the royal family’s Christmas celebrations in 2017, before they wed. “Attending as a fiancée is a first,” an insider previously told Us. “Given that Meghan doesn’t have family in the U.K., it’s only right that she spends Christmas with Harry and his.”

Luckily, fans are getting a bit of insight about Meghan and Harry’s celebrations because the royal family’s official website revealed how they Cambridges and Sussexs will ring in the upcoming holiday with the Queen. “On Christmas Eve, the royal family lay out their presents on trestle tables and will exchange their gifts at teatime,” the site explained. It sounds like a fun-filled afternoon!

Doria previously traveled to the United Kingdom in May to watch her daughter get married. As far as the Duchess’ pregnancy, Meghan’s mom, 62, “is very happy about this lovely news and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild,” a statement released by Kensington Palace read on Oct. 15. Doria also reportedly plans on being “a hands-on grandma” when she visits from Los Angeles. Exciting!
