Newly minted Bachelor star Peter Weber was hospitalized after a “serious” face injury on October 7 while golfing in Costa Rica, Life & Style confirmed at the time. The reality star was driven two hours to a local hospital where he received 22 stitches in his face, according to a source from Radar, who broke the story. The contestants from the season reportedly hadn’t arrived at the new location from the previous week in Ohio to start filming yet. Life & Style reached out to ABC for comment but did not hear back by the time of publication.

According to the source, the leading man was carrying two glasses when the accident occurred. “He went to step on the cart but fell and split his face open on two cocktail glasses he was carrying,” they noted. Sadly, Peter “underwent surgery” and was sent to a hospital so far away because the facility had a “surgeon that specialized in his injuries.” Luckily, host Chris Harrison says production will carry on despite the mishap.

“Peter suffered a freak accident. He got a cut on his head, he did get stitches but he’s 100 percent OK and production is already back underway,” he wrote in a statement on Instagram. “He’s still the dashing, handsome pilot we’ve all dreamed of.”

Later on, Peter cleared the air about his injury. “Honestly, it was just a freak accident,” he told People magazine in December. “It really wasn’t as bad of an injury as people thought. I bumped my head on the top of the cart. As I reacted, I put my head down and brought my hand up, but I had a glass in my hand. [The glass] shattered and ended up slicing my forehead open.” He even revealed the scar that’s on his face as a result of the accident.

At that point in filming, the pilot was whittling down the large group of women and getting closer to finding (hopefully) his new fiancée.

“Obviously, it sounds cliche, but [I’m looking for] that girl [who] is my best friend. You are just so madly in love with her and you can’t believe that you were lucky enough to find her and spend the rest of your life with her,” Peter confessed during an interview with Good Morning America hours after he was announced as the next Bachelor. “The girl that is as thirsty for adventure as I am and just constantly exploring and never is gonna lose that. A girl that family is extremely important to her because for me coming from such a close family that’s that’s my rock.”

Peter’s search for romance is on, but a lot of fans couldn’t help but wonder if he and former Bachelorette star Hannah Brown ever had a chance of rekindling their relationship. Now, the former flames might have another shot as the reality babe will make an appearance on the ABC show. “She starts coming out of the limo, I realize who it is [and] jaw-drop,” he told Access Hollywood on January 2.

Fans even think Hannah and Peter could be end game. “My prediction: Hannah B. shows up at the final rose ceremony wanting Peter back. Peter dumps the final 2 to date Hannah. Peter will propose to her on AFR,” one person predicted on Twitter.

Guess we’ll have to see!
