Everyone knows Vanessa Hudgens is body goals — but now she’s dishing on how she does it!
"I looked in the mirror and was like, 'Who am I?'” the 28-year-old says, opening up about the weight gain for her role in the 2013 film, Gimme Shelter. “It was definitely a journey back to myself, and yoga helped.”
She turned to yoga — which she says is more like therapy than fitness for her — and other popular workouts like circuit training and Pilates. But she credits SoulCycle with helping her the most — she would take the trendy indoor cycling classes twice a day to burn fat.
“Put me on a bike in a room with loud music, and I’m happy,” the actress explains. “It’s like dancing without the stress of worrying if you look good.”
She paired her workouts with a high-fat, low-carb diet to give her the results she has now. Vanessa says that she eats a whole avocado every day and every once in a while, she’ll allow herself to indulge. Her current favorite cheat day meal is ramen.
Her diet and fitness routine is a big change from her days as a teen — she would opt for junk food while on the set of the first three High School Musical movies. And even though Disney revealed plans of making a fourth installment of the franchise last year, Vanessa doesn’t seem interested in returning to East High School anytime soon.
"I mean, I'm 28," the actress told E! News last month. "I could be a teacher, but I refuse to be a teacher! I'm still a teenager at heart. So probably not with me, but I'm excited to see what they whip together."
