Get ready, y’all, because Mischa Barton’s comeback is almost here. On October 3, The O.C. actress, 33, announced that she’s joining the cast of The Hills: New Beginnings.

While MTV has yet to drop an official premiere date, the series is slated to drop sometime in 2019. We suspect in Spring. You know, because it’s the season of new beginnings. Wink, wink.

With that, we decided it was time to take a walk down memory lane to see just how much the reigning queen of California has changed over the years. Scroll through the gallery below to see pictures of Mischa’s transformation!

Mischa’s acting career kicked off in 2003 as she took on the role of the beloved Marissa Cooper on The O.C.

By Season 2 of the hit teenage drama, Mischa was basically the “it girl” of the early 2000s.

By the time she was gearing up for Season 3, the world was certain that Mischa was going to be a lifelong starlet.

In addition to The O.C., Mischa appeared in a number of music videos and was the face of several popular brands like Neutrogena.

To the dismay of fans everywhere, Mischa’s character was killed off The O.C. and thus her role as Marissa Cooper came to an end.

She went on to snag a few roles after that, but nothing nearly as substantial.

Save for a few public appearances, it seemed as though Mischa’s career had come to a rapid end.

Thankfully, Mischa has always had some impeccable style. So much so, that she continued to attend her fair share of A-list events.

Similarly to the Olsen twins, Mischa seemed to thrive pretty well outside of the spotlight.

Unlike other “it girls,” like Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, or Nicole Richie, Mischa was able to walk away from Hollywood mostly unscathed.

Of course, “mostly unscathed” isn’t entirely unscathed. Mischa did have a few scandals — including admission to a psychiatric facility and a DUI arrest that left her with three years probation.

Despite those hiccups, Mischa seemed to bounce back better than ever. She wasn’t landing roles or anything, but she wasn’t making headlines for all the wrongs reasons either!
