Here’s Why Uncle Benjen Randomly Returned to ‘Game of Thrones’ to Save Jon Snow
What better person to save Jon Snow than Uncle Benjen? Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 6 titled “Behind the Wall” brought back Ned and Lyanna Stark’s brother, Benjen (also known as Coldhands). Not long after Daenerys rode off on her dragon leaving Jon to seemingly die, he was rescued by his uncle and fans are left wondering where he’s been all this time.

The last time viewers saw him was in the Season 6 finale where he also saved Bran and Meera (with his flaming chain, we might add) and delivered them safely back to The Wall. So, what has he been doing and why can’t he travel back across the wall?
Last season, he said: “The Wall is not just ice and stone. Ancient spells were carved into its foundations. Strong magic to protect men from what lies beyond. And while it stands, the dead cannot pass. I cannot pass.” The reason for this is Ben was stabbed by a White Walker and later saved by the Children of the Forest from dragonglass.

Fans obviously have a lot of feelings about his reappearance. Check out the best reactions below:
Uncle BenJen not getting on that horse is the new Jack not getting on the door with Rose. #GameofThrones

Uncle benjen didn’t give the horse to bran last season because he knew Jon was gonna need it. The 3ER probably told him. I’m so sad.

I don’t know what hurt worse, Uncle Benjen or “Next week on the season finale…” My heart can’t take #GameOfThrones like this.

We have so many feelings about this. First of all, Benjen totally had time to jump on that horse with Jon. Sure, he would have stayed beyond The Wall but at least he could have survived (and not possibly became a White Walker). But, we guess this was his destiny all along. He needed to save Jon so he could defeat the White Walkers once and for all. Now, all we have to do is wait and see if Jon actually does defeat them.
