Katy Perry Backs Out of People's Choice Awards

Katy took to her Twitter account today, Jan. 9, to reveal that she will not be attending the People's Choice Awards in LA this Wednesday.

"Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People's Choice Awards," wrote the 27-year-old star, who is nominated for six awards. "I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS."

She's up for more awards than anyone else this year, in categories including Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Song of the Year for her hit "E.T.," featuring Kanye West.

Last week it was announced that Russell had been uninvited from the show, leading many to believe it was all to avoid an awkward run-in between the former couple.

Eleven days ago, Russell Brand, 36, filed for divorce from the pop songstress after 14 months of marriage.
