It was shocking to learn on Wednesday morning that former NFL star Aaron Hernandez committed suicide while in prison — and a new report reveals even more chilling details pertaining to the incident.
Aaron, who played tight end for the New England Patriots before being jailed for the murder of Odin Lloyd, used a bed sheet to hang himself in his cell at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, MA. According to a statement, he "jammed the door with various items" in order to block entry.

Now multiple reports claim that when the father-of-one was found, Aaron had written the phrase "John 3:16" in red on both the cell wall and his own forehead. He also had the sacred book open to this page.

In the bible, that verse reads, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Aaron was not believed to be of suicidal nature at the time of his death and was just acquitted on Friday of a double homicide he was accused of committing back in 2012 after someone allegedly spilled a drink on him in a nightclub. He was serving life without parole for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd — a semi-pro football player who was dating Aaron's fiancée and baby mama [Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez]'s sister.
"Aaron was looking forward to an opportunity for a second chance to prove his innocence. Those who love and care about him are heartbroken and determined to find the truth surrounding his untimely death," his attorney, Jose Baez, said via Fox News.

He is also survived by his and Shayanna's four-year-old daughter, Avielle.
