On the night that celebrates TV’s biggest stars and accomplishes, it was only fitting to honor the late Cory Monteith.
The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences decided that, in addition to the regular In Memoriam, they would have colleagues close to the fallen stars honor certain notable stars that the industry lost this year.
Jane Lynch took the stage to memorialize her Glee costar.

“Tonight we remember Cory for all he was and mourn the loss of all he could have been,” she said.
In July, Cory died at age 31 of what was officially declared “mixed drug toxicity”; he had a long drug history, a fact that Jane, 53, did not shy away from.

"Cory was a beautiful soul,” she said. “He was not perfect, which many of us here tonight can relate to. His death is a tragic reminder of the rapacious, senseless destruction that is brought on by addiction”
Jane also gave a special message aimed at Cory’s younger fans.

“To a generation that loved Cory so, please know this gifted and wonderful young man was worthy of your love,” She said.
“And if you were lucky enough to know Cory as we did, and witness firsthand Cory's goofy, breezy sense of humor, his natural instinct for inclusiveness and his unbridled sense of generosity day in and day out, I promise you have loved him even more."
