It's no secret that Prince William holds his mother, the late Princess Diana, near and dear to his heart. So when he and wife Kate Middleton announced they'd be expecting a baby, it's safe to say Diana was in their thoughts.
Speaking with the late princess' close friend, Marie Sutton, she tells the new issue of Life & Style, on newsstands now, that Kate getting pregnant would have overjoyed Diana — had she lived to share the big moment.
"The pregnancy is just such marvelous news and Diana would be over the moon, absolutely," Marie tells Life & Style.
"I think she would have loved Kate – everyone seems to love her, she’s very easy-going and has a beautiful family," Marie adds. "I think Diana would have blended in very well with the Middletons.”

Since the royal couple confirmed on Dec. 3 that Kate is with child, there's been a lot of speculation on what they'll name the heir to the throne. But the biggest question remains: If the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have a girl, will they name her after Diana? Not quite, but Marie believes that it will be the baby's middle name.
"The [middle] name would have to be Diana, wouldn’t it?” she gushes to Life & Style.
Though Diana was more than happy having her two boys, William and Prince Harry, Marie says, "I think she would have loved to have had a daughter, too" — revealing that the late princess once confided to her that her favorite girl's name was Allegra.
