Empowering in All She Does

It’s no surprise Ash was asked to moderate a discussion at SXSW as she’s a super powerful woman. Besides being a supermodel, she’s an entrepreneur and advocate for body acceptance. Some of her various projects include a swimwear line for the brand Swimsuits For All and a podcast called “Pretty Big Deal.”

Unstoppable

Her influence and dedication has led her to break barriers in society. In 2016, she became the first plus-size model to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated, and since then, she’s been everywhere. The following year she became a judge for America’s Next Top Model, proving she truly knows her craft when it comes to the fashion and beauty industry.

SXSW’s Convergence Keynote panel was a conversation between Bozoma Saint John and Ashley, in which the two discussed what they see in “a cultural crystal ball.” The two influencers gave their thoughts based on their own experiences on what it takes to create what the next big thing in “entertainment, sports, art, fashion and food” is, according to the SXSW site.

Prior to this engagement, Ashley was in Australia for the Melbourne Fashion Festival. The brunette beauty walked in Runway 4 and was also a keynote speaker at the inaugural Australian Fashion Summit. Clearly, she’s high in demand!

Making a Diffrence

During her recent Harper’s Bazaar Australia interview, Ashley got candid about the moment she realized her impact. “After my TED talk came out, I had a girl with an eating disorder write me and say that I had instilled so much confidence in her, that watching me talk with confidence about my own body had encouraged her to seek treatment,” she explained. “That’s when I realized, ‘Holy crap, me sharing my story is going to change people’s lives.'” You got that right!
