Where is the queen? If you were wondering whether Beyoncé would show up to the Met Gala this year, it seems like you may be disappointed. The iconic songstress appears to be skipping the glamorous 2019 event, much to her fans’ chagrin.

“No Beyoncé or Rihanna = No Met Gala,” said one crushed Twitter user. “Neither Rihanna nor Beyoncé will be attending this year’s met gala so #MetGala is nonexisting to me,” said another. “Literally none of my faves are at the met gala ….. I really lost …. waiting on Beyoncé,” said a third.

This is actually the third year in a row that fans have had to suffer through a Met Ball that didn’t feature Beyoncé as a guest after she opted out of the event in 2018 and 2017. Usually a fixture at the Metropolitan, she was eight months pregnant in 2017 and chose to rest instead of getting all dolled up for the glam evening.

Fans expected her to return in 2018, especially considering she was working on a dress with Peter Dundas and had even booked her glam squad, so they were super disappointed when she didn’t show up and made no excuses for her absence. She performed at Coachella mere weeks before, and was prepping for the European leg of the On The Run tour, so perhaps she just really needed to relax. Can you blame her?

Prior to her tragic hiatus, Beyoncé was one of the most highly-anticipated guests annually. Remember when she wore a blush latex Givenchy number in 2016 that looked like a second skin? Or when she went practically naked besides a few jewels in 2015? Or the sheer black studded look she wore in 2014? And how could we forget the baroque-inspired piece from 2013. Ever since 2012, Bey has only worn Givenchy, and if you ask us, that’s a match made in heaven. We’re sad we haven’t seen another killer collab since!
