Has the dust finally settled? After months of rumored feuding between Kate Middleton and her newly royal sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, it appears as though the ladies have come to an understanding. According to Us Weekly, the Duchess of Cambridge, 36, and the Duchess of Sussex, 37, opened up about their differences while celebrating Christmas at Sandringham House.

“Being under the same roof meant that they couldn’t avoid each other,” a source revealed to the publication. “Kate opened up about feeling like Meghan had used her to climb the royal ladder,” the source continued, adding that the former Suits actress admitted that she felt snubbed by Kate.

While we don’t doubt that the pair’s close quarters played a role in their supposed reconciliation, we can’t help but wonder if it was really Queen Elizabeth pulling the strings. An insider revealed to Life & Style magazine ahead of the holidays that the 92-year-old monarch was insistent on Meghan and Kate burying the hatchet once and for all.

Shortly after it was reported that the mother-of-three and her husband, Prince William, wouldn’t be spending Christmas with the rest of the royal family, the queen stepped in and had a private meeting with Kate. “She sees Kate as the more experienced royal,” an insider revealed at the time. “During their meeting, she told Kate to resolve their differences before the situation spirals even more out of control. It takes a lot for the queen to lose her temper, but she’s reached her boiling point.”

The insider continued: “In the queen’s eyes, Kate and Meghan’s feud mirrors that of a cheap soap opera. She’s embarrassed beyond belief. She can’t get her head around why they can’t just get along like adults.” So, was it a true Christmas miracle or was it Queen Elizabeth’s mastery of persuasion? Either way, we’re pleased to hear that Meghan and Kate are on the same side… for now.
