Nothing is better than watching a cute rom-com and realizing the actors are indeed dating in real life — but that doesn’t always happen. Case in point? Lana Candor and Noah Centineo. While their love story on To All The Boys I Loved Before is pretty sweet, it’s just a movie, but some fans can’t seem to separate reality from fiction … which has caused drama in the costars’ personal lives.

The actress, 21, revealed fans have been sending her IRL boyfriend Anthony De La Torre hate on social media because they basically wish she was really dating Noah instead. Um, rude! “It was so hurtful for both of us,” Lana told Cosmopolitan. “This is supposed to be a good thing. Why are you coming for someone who has no part of this story? If you say you support me, why would you hurt someone I love?”

Lana admitted that while promoting TATBILB, she and Noah left fans wondering whether they were dating IRL or not, based on their coy answers in interviews. “Noah and I definitely encouraged the speculation,” Lana said. “But it’s because we believe in the story and the characters and we genuinely love each other. You can truly love someone in a very platonic way.” But now, she makes sure to talk about Anthony, and since mentioning him more, the bashing has decreased. “People are starting to understand that you’re not necessarily the person you play onscreen,” she said.

The Deadly Class star met her longtime beau at an Emmy nominees party in Beverly Hills in 2015 when the two suddenly locked eyes at the bar. Since then, they’ve been together for three and a half years. The couple recently moved in together and are parents to an adorable pup named Emmy. Their love story sounds like the perfect rom-com if you ask us!
