Lionel Richie Thinks Daughter Sofia Is ‘Better Off’ Without Scott Disick: He Was ‘Never a Huge Fan’
Father knows best! Lionel Richie thinks his daughter Sofia Richie is “better off” without ex-boyfriend Scott Disick following their split, a source exclusively tells Life & Style. “Lionel was never a huge fan of Scott.”
Naturally, the singer, 71, just wants what’s best for his 21-year-old daughter, and he doesn’t seem to believe it’s the Talentless founder, 37. “He’s warned her not to get back with him but at the same time isn’t forcing his opinion on her,” adds the insider. “Sofia is still so young and has her whole life ahead of her, and Lionel doesn’t want to see her settling down with the wrong guy.”
In May, Life & Style confirmed Sofia and Scott broke up after nearly three years of dating. Throughout their relationship, Lionel has been pretty vocal about how he felt about Scott. “Have I been in shock?! I’m the dad, come on … I’m scared to death, are you kidding me?” he told Us Weekly shortly after they started dating in 2017.
However, it looks like Lionel doesn’t have much to worry about now since the up-and-coming actress and the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star may be over for good. Sofia seems to be focusing on the positive in the weeks following their breakup.
The model thinks the split is “a good move for her and him,” another source previously told Life & Style. “She’s concentrating on her career, she really wants to act.”
Meanwhile, the Flip It like Disick star is focused on his mental health. He checked himself into a Colorado facility in April to deal with emotional issues relating to his parents’ deaths and checked himself out less than a week later. Luckily, Scott isn’t going through this alone. He has ex Kourtney Kardashian to lean on.
“He’s so appreciative of the effort she’s making to help him on his road to recovery,” another insider exclusively told Life & Style. “Scott says he doesn’t know how he would’ve survived the past few weeks without Kourtney’s support.”
Kourt and Scott, who share three children — Mason, 10, Penelope, 7, and Reign, 5 — seem to be getting closer since he became single. The exes have vacationed together with their kids in Utah and Wyoming and even celebrated his birthday together.
