June “Mama June” Shannon went from not to hot, and now she’s dishing about how she did it!
The former Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star wowed fans by shedding an impressive 150 pounds last year — and she isn’t stopping there! She’s making her return to reality TV with her new WEtv series Mama June: From Not to Hot — which will document her amazing weight loss journey as she undergoes gastric sleeve surgery to help her go from a size 16 to a size 4 — and now she’s revealing her best diet tips!
“I just watch my portions and cut back on a lot of the carbs,” she exclusively told Life & Style. “The one thing that I cannot live without is my grapes and cheese.”
She also revealed that before she underwent weight loss surgery, she relied on “baking everything” to cook her meals — and she had to completely change her lifestyle in order to acheive her goals. Joselyn Boschen, a fitness expert at the health app Lifesum, explained that Mama June needs to have healthier eating habits in order to keep the weight off.
“When anyone undergoes a drastic weight loss procedure like surgery they better be ready to maintain it,” Boschen exclusively told Life & Style. “In order to get/keep the results, a drastic change in lifestyle needs to come into play. The size of the meals you can ingest is significantly lower. To make sure you get the right nutrients you should be eating the healthiest foods possible.”
Fans will get to follow along with Mama June on her transformation, and in a sneak peek for the upcoming series, she revealed that she decided to make such a big change in her life after finding out that her longtime partner, Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson, was cheating on her. After that, she decided to make drastic changes in all areas of her life.
“Goodbye old life, goodbye men that don’t treat me right, goodbye to this old body,” she proclaimed.
