What Time is the 2017 Met Gala? Plus Everything You Need to Know for a Front Row Seat!

Celebrities are getting ready to bring their fashion A-game to the 2017 Met Gala, one of the most exclusive events of the year.

The Met Gala takes place today, Monday, May 1, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. This year’s theme is “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons” in honor of 74-year-old Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo.

The event — sponsored by Apple, H&M, Maison Valentino, FarFetch, and Condé Nast — will be co-chaired by Katy Perry, Pharell Williams, and Anna Wintour, with the star of the night, Kawakubo, serving as an honorary chair.

What time is the Met Gala?

While an official start time has not been announced, Vogue will begin live streaming the red carpet on its Facebook page at 7 p.m.

How much are Met Gala tickets?

Tickets can cost upwards of $30,000 individually.

Who can attend the Met Gala?

It’s one of the most exclusive events of the year, with all attendees given final approval by Anna Wintour, the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue and chair of the Met Gala since 1995. The board hands out tickets solely to A-listers, but corporations can buy a whole table at the gala (which can cost anywhere between $75,000 and $250,000).

What does the Met Gala raise money for?

The money raised by the event accounts for The Costume Institute‘s yearly budget. The Costume Institute is a department of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which displays more than 35,000 costumes and accessories. The Anna Wintour Costume Center opened at the Costume Institute in 2014, after massive renovations.

Can you watch the Met Gala red carpet live?
