‘Suits’ Producer Says Meghan Markle Is ‘the Same’ Now as She Was on the Show
Long before Meghan Markle became the Duchess of Sussex, the now-37-year-old played the beloved role of Rachel Zane on the hit USA Network series Suits. Unfortunately for fans of the show, a royal of her stature simply doesn’t have the time to pursue an acting career, so her final episode aired on April 25, 2018.
Despite trading in Hollywood for Kensington Palace, however, Suits producer Aaron Korsh assured Life & Style that Meghan has never stopped remaining true to herself. “Meghan is who she is. She’s a grown woman. She’s not in her 20s. I think she’s a fully formed woman,” the 52-year-old explained at the TCA Winter Press Tour. “I’m sure that being in that position I’m sure would have some long-term changes but she’s the same. I’m going to guess that she’s pretty much the same person she always was and adapting very nicely to the challenges.”
Hmmm, challenges? Could he be referring to her alleged feud with sister-in-law Kate Middleton, as well as dealing with constant media attacks from her estranged family members? Ahem, Samantha Markle. Even so, Aaron went on to explain that over the course of their working relationship, he came to know Meghan extremely well and that he has no doubt of what she’s capable of overcoming.
“Meghan is the person that she was. It’s funny, I had watched some royals thing, I don’t know, whenever it was, eight or nine months ago, and it showed these clips of Meghan as a little girl being so poised and confident about a soap commercial that she wrote an ad about. That’s an 11-year-old girl that’s standing up for herself and fighting for women’s equality in the world. That was 25 years ago or something like that, 30 years ago. That’s what I mean about Meghan is a fully formed person. If you can handle yourself in Hollywood you can handle yourself.”
New episodes of Suits return to USA on Wednesday, January 30, at 10 p.m. ET.
