Giuliana Rancic suffered the ultimate wardrobe malfunction when the zipper on her Oscars dress broke during E!'s red carpet telecast on Sunday night.
And now Duke's mama has revealed why the gorgeous princess-y gown, created by Australian designer Paul Vasileff, busted on national television.
"My battery went out during a live interview. I couldn’t hear anyone -- the nightmare we all worry about -- so they go to break and they tell the guy you have two minutes to come in and fix this – unzip the dress change all the batteries and zip her up again," she explained.
"So he came out quickly and he was moving so fast. I was like, 'Just be careful when you zip me up because I have so much back here and it might break the zipper.'"

The crew member assured Giuliana everything was fine, while she feverishly called for her stylist who wasn't around at the time.
She continued, "So he pulled it up. I thought it was fine, and then all of a sudden, the second the red light went on and we went back from break, I felt air and a breeze on the left side of my body. I look down and I realized he had split the zipper open, and he felt horrible."
But G decided to make the best of it and shared her mishap with millions of viewers
"Instead of hiding it, the first thing I said was, ‘Hi my zipper broke,' and just kind of announced it the audience."
Luckily, Ryan Seacrest had just finished up his interviewing duties and jokingly tried to fix her gown with some duct tape he found on the floor.
She told The Daily Mail, "Right when we went to the next break my stylist Monica came in and sewed it really quickly, but at the end of the night I had to be cut out of the dress."
