Kate Beckinsale Reveals She’s Never Dated Anyone With a ‘Bag of Mischief’ Like Pete Davidson
People can’t stop gawking at Pete Davidson and Kate Beckinsale. Whether it’s their age difference, all the PDA or their connection to Ariana Grande, fans are all-in. The actress revealed that she’s shocked by the attention their relationship has received, but likes him enough to stick it out.
“I’m surprised by the interest,” the 45-year-old told the Los Angeles Times in an article published on March 27. “I’ve never been in this position before — never dated anybody who comes with their own bag of mischief. It’s all quite shocking, and something to get used to,” she explained while being careful not to mention the SNL comic by name. Honestly, who else would bring that kind of obsession from fans?
The Click star explained that the bond with her young beau is strong enough to withstand the scrutiny. “I think if you liked the person less, you would bow out of it. If that were the main thrust of the relationship, there would be a problem. But it’s not,” she admitted.
The magnifying glass over their love life not only has an impacted their romance but also their day-to-day routines. “I’d rather not have people hiding outside my house,” Kate confessed. We don’t blame her there. The London native added, “It’s a little old fashioned to have a woman’s personal life [looked at like that]. It’s a little bit tired.”
Fans think the Total Recall actress’ quick sense of humor is part of her connection with the young comic. She recently has been showing a lot more of her personality via Instagram and she is absolutely hilarious. The Oxford graduate divulged, “The thing that’s been odd for me over the years is — I think when you’re standing around in skintight rubber trousers, people automatically assume you don’t have much of a sense of humor.”
Her boosted social media presence first started with the need to promote a project she was working on but it turned into something she has learned to enjoy. “If people dislike that persona, I really don’t care. It’s actually accurate. I found it incredibly relieving to go, ‘Oh, this is what my actual sensibility is like,'” the brunette beauty declared. “And whether people respond positively or negatively to that, that is what it is. And that’s been a largely positive experience. If it became oppressive or upsetting, I would be very happy to let go of it. But so far, it’s been rather a nice thing. A lot of fun.”
