One day at a time! Bachelor in Paradise star Demi Burnett defended her relationship with fiancée Kristian Haggerty amid split rumors. The reality babe explained that the two are just taking their time and exploring this new chapter of their lives. Although the pair got engaged during the season 6 finale, the blonde bombshell told Us Weekly on October 9 that they are “definitely just dating right now.”

“If you just jump into it and just rush everything, for me personally, that’s not how I could have a successful relationship. I have to definitely take it at a steady pace,” the 24-year-old explained during DICK’S Sporting Goods first-ever fashion show in NYC.

Demi first got down on one knee on the beach in Mexico and Kristian later returned the gesture during the Paradise aftershow. Both ladies are sporting Neil Lane engagement rings but walking down the aisle is still far away. “There’s so much going on for both of us that it’s like, ‘Oh, planning a wedding right now just sounds so intense.’ So we’re definitely taking it slow and just enjoying our time together,” the reality babe continued.

Fans have been raising their eyebrows about the couple’s status because neither of them shares much about their romance on social media, but that’s the way Demi prefers it. “Every relationship is different and it’s like — I mean in the most respectful way — it’s nobody’s business how our relationship works. We both have so much going on right now,” she confessed. “We do spend time together. Just because we don’t broadcast it doesn’t mean that we’re not together.”

Their schedules are jam-packed and they are constantly traveling, but both of their home bases are in Los Angeles. They live in different areas of the city — Kristian resides in West Hollywood while Demi is in the valley — and the former Bachelor contestant added that it’s a comfortable place for her. “We’re not too far apart. I think it’s important to kind of have our space just so, you know, we can develop a normal, very solid, steady relationship,” she divulged.

Demi’s mindset about her relationship isn’t a bad thing. Former Paradise alum Kendall Long exclusively dished to Life & Style about the things she’s learned since meeting her boyfriend, Joe Amabile, on the beach. The starlet admitted that blocking out the noise and focusing on your own path is critical.

“I would say that my best advice is to go with your own timeline because, as soon as you’re public, as soon as everybody knows you guys are together, people start talking about babies and engagement and marriage and all that stuff,” she confessed. “So, I would just say trust each other and your timeline and also trust each other with everyone else’s opinion. Just kind of, you know, go with your own flow.”

It looks like Demi and Kristian are A-OK at the moment. Hopefully, they’ll continue being the cutest couple in Bachelor Nation!
